PayPal Swipe
In case you haven’t heard…you can now purchase the MagneSafe Secure Card Reader to use with PayPal’s Virtual Terminal. The cost is $86.99 through Dell but if you already own the reader, you can download software to work with Virtual Terminal.

I don’t think it’s a pipe dream at all! We’re running bar code readers on smart phones at my company. In fact – I am betting some companies have already implemented something like you describe. It’s just not made it to the mass market yet.
