Bag-E-Wash
Oh - the things you might discover while checking the weather. I flipped on the Weather Channel yesterday to see what is in store for us this weekend and their Forecast Earth program was on. It’s actually a great program. I never thought I would set the DVR to tape anything on The Weather Channel, but now I have.
Yesterday’s program featured Bag-E Wash™; a new product to help you reuse food storage bags. The company states that one box of 30 gallon-size bags washed with Bag-E-Wash™ and reused 50 times each saves $150.00 and keeps 1,500 bags out of the landfills. Yes - that’s right - you can reuse them 50 times. Most metropolitan recycling programs do not at this time recycle plastic bags. A July 2002 EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) report stated that Americans discarded more than 3.3 million tons of low and high density polyethylene bags in 2000. Of those 3.3 million tons only 5.4% were recovered and recycled.
I use many, many food storage bags for both business and personal use. I love that I can save a few bucks and feel better about using them now with Bag-E-Wash™.

Tony Kvale Says:
I started recording Forecast Earth this past week and was so pleasantly surprised to find Bag-E-Wash in one of the segments. I met the inventor, Jeannie, at a Twin Cities green show about two years ago when we launched our eco company. She is a fantastic soul and it is such a joy for me to see someone who is truly making a global impact get the deserved recognition. In 9 out of 10 dishwasher loads in our home, I have a Bag-E-Wash helping us to recycle bags. On top of that, this past holiday season I ordered several Bag-E-Wash for the people in my life who really appreciate sensible gifts, this one saving money and the planet simultaneously. This is such GREAT news — my day has been made!

I’m glad I’m not the only one taping Forecast Earth too.
