Earth Day…
Tuesday is Earth Day. Will you celebrate in some way? I hope that you will. This week all posts for this blog will be about Earth Day and the many ways we can do our part as business owners and citizens of our planet.
Today I encourage everyone to add recycle symbols to their products if the container and/or packaging can be recycled. It will cost you next to nothing to do so and the payoff to the planet could be significant. Especially if all soap, candle and B&B makers do it. You can find many free graphic symbols to use here:

I would also like to add, not only recycling the packaging, but also reducing it. I don’t need a bottle of shampoo, or a lipstick (for example), to be shrinkwrapped (seen them!), a small sticker as a seal on the lid is enough.
For soap bars, perhaps trying to use paper instead of plastic? I know plastic will keep the nice scent better, but paper recycles better too. And shrink wrap and then put in a box is overkill, unless I can reuse the box, which doesn’t happen often. I am having ideas about this one, but it’d be a product on its own

Agreed! I have a few new products I am about to launch and I am working really hard on minimizing the packaging. Some products are more challenging than others but it is worthwhile. Doing this has really makes me think about the products I purchase for myself as well.
