Make Your Business Cards Work Harder For You

Moo Business Cards

A business card can and should do more than simply provide contact info. It costs very little- if anything at all- to have your cards printed on both sides. One side of the card should contain all important contact info and the other side of your card can act as a promotional item. Doing so will give the cardholders a reason to hang onto them and better still - a reason to contact you. (The picture to the left is of Moo.com’s new business cards.)

Here is a list of ideas on how to make your business card work harder for you:

1. Print a calendar on the back side of your cards. Customers will find them useful to carry in their handbags or wallets.

2. Print a team schedule on the back of your cards for the same reason. I know I keep EVERYTHING with a Nebraska Football schedule on it.

3. Use the back as a special discount offer or coupon on the back. People will save it for the coupon or use it right away which is good too.

4. Place Scratch Off stickers on your cards like those you can purchase at Kangaroo Blue. When you have your cards printed, you’ll need to have the discount or free item text printed in a 1″ - 1.25″ circle. When your cards arrive, place the scratch off stickers over the text.

5. Use your business cards as punch cards by adding a row of graphics or numbers at the bottom of the card.  Offer customers free item or discounted item when all of the punches have been used up.

6. Print your craft show, trade show or market schedules on the cards so that people know when and where to find you.

7. If you’re a part of a networking group or Etsy Team, print discount ads for other members and have them do the same like the card shown below.

Well, there you have it. That’s seven ideas off the top of my head. I know there has to be more. If you have additional ideas on how to make your business cards work harder for you, please share them with us in the comments section!

I think giving your customer a reason to use your product would be great to put on the back. For instance, if you make soaps, have a blurb on the back on the benefits of using your products or state what the big companies do with their products that are a benefit to them and not a benefit to your body.

Thanks Diana! That’s a great idea too. It would work well in conjunction with the punch card idea to remind them why they want to return for that next punch.

    Very good points!
I recommend http://www.ooprint.com for your business cards . . . they allow you to place a calendar on the back, upload your own photos to both sides of the business cards, and they have hundreds of models of business cards if you’re not feeling creative yourself.
The print quality is excellent and the order process is very simple.
