Saponifier Magazine: More Than I Thought It Was

I know - I know.  I’ve been a bad, bad banana. It’s already Wednesday and I’m finally getting around to writing my first post for the week. It’s just been that kind of a week. I have two large projects and a handful of small projects all happening simultaneously and I am burning the candle at both ends to get them finished.

One of the projects I’ve been working on is a redesign of the Saponifier Magazine web site. Kathy Tarbox, Saponifier’s Editor in Chief,  asked me to do the work and I am excited to be a part of the project! So, since I have the Saponifier on the brain, I thought I would take a few minutes to wrote about it this morning.

I shamefully admit that I have had little exposure to the Saponifier until I recently started working on the site. I’ve spoken with Kathy on Twitter and she has commented on this blog. Carol Shatz is a member of the Soaperland Forum and someone I have learned a great deal from in the short amount of time the forum has been running. But as far as the actual magazine goes, I’ve never really spent much time looking through the info they provide. And let me tell you. There is a lot. I know first hand because I am moving all of that information from their current web site to the new one.

Now some of you are surely aware of the following features on Saponifier.com, but I know there are other Johnny Come Lately’s like myself out there and I thought I would point them out.

Look Book: Did you know this existed? It’s a listing of businesses that sell natural and organic candles, cosmetics, soaps and personal care products. Check out the listing info if this applies to you.

Marketplace: A supplier directory with ratings.

Supplier Awards - Now I find these especially helpful. It’s too late to vote for 2008, but the results will be coming out in the next magazine issue.

SoapWire: Newswire for the Natural Personal Care Products Industry - Tons of great info in this blog and more arriving every day.

If you’re on the fence about subscribing to Saponifier Magazine, maybe the quality of the free info they provide will help you make up your mind.

Have a great day everyone!

You know, I had waffled about whether to subscribe or not…but only because I am not yet a “professional” soaper, and I wasn’t sure how relevant it’d be to me at this time in my life. Thank you for summarizing some of the content they offer!

Pardon my dumb question, but I wasn’t too positive about this when I was looking at their site: Saponifier is an online magazine only, is that right? Thanks!
